The Perfect Super Easy Summer Skirt!

The Perfect Super Easy Summer Skirt!

Great for Me!

Cost $12 and took 1 1/2 hours (only because I hand-sewed the hem)

Just as good for my daughter!

$7 and 1 hour (she sewed everything by machine)

Here's the Pattern!

The skirt falls 1" below the waist.   It is so forgiving in every area!  No fitting.  Just measure waist and hips.

My daughter wears her skirts short so she made a short pattern for herself out of newspaper.

My length took the amount shown on the back of the pattern.  My daughter's length took 1 yard of fabric.  She also measured one size smaller.

This is how easy this pattern is!

Stay stitch the front and back.  That assures that the waist won't stretch.

Sew seams.  Zipper side baste down to notch and then regular sew from there down to hem.

Put in zipper.

Sew 1/2 twill tape at waist.

Hem!

Another skirt!

One more!

The bigger and bolder the fabric pattern the nicer the skirt comes out!

Good Luck!!

The Dog Days of Summer!

Most people dread the dog days of summer but not Lucy!

Beauty is as beauty does!  Here's Lucy's story of how she spends her doggy days of summer!

I am a July baby - oh sorry for factual purposes only I am a Standard Poodle puppy.  Before I came to live with Mom Susan she visited me all the time at my breeder's house.  When she finally brought me home she sent out an email blast to all her friends titled "We have a baby!"

I was sooo cute!  Everyone loved to pick me up and give me lots of hugs and kisses.  Bring on all the love you want to give meI'm just a cuddly girl!!

By Halloween I was a toddler and my Auntie made me a Halloween costume so I could go out with Mom Susan to Trick or Treat!  Oh, I forgot to mention I have two older brothers but they don't like to get dressed up so they don't have half as much fun!

How do you like the back of my costume?  I love the bow!

I ran and played so hard I needed a rest in the shade!

As I grew out of toddlerhood I found more time for naps.

All that sleep paid off.  I am growing up to be as gorgeous as Mom Susan.  Oh, by the way I only wear rhinestone collars now.  They bring out the best in me.  It's almost birthday time again.  I've grown up to be smart, sassy and so gorgeous!  And don't think I don't know it!

Now it's July again!  Birthday time!  I am too grown up to have a puppy birthday party so Auntie made me these gorgeous doggy cookies for my big day!  Bet you wish you had one!

We had trays and trays of these wonderful treats!

Yes!  I did share some with my brothers!

Oh, did you say you wanted some too?  Oh, dear, sorry I ate them all!  And, they were so delicious!!

Stay cool all of you real Humans who don't have the luxury of being spoiled day and night!!  I'll be catching up on my beauty sleep this week while you are out working and making a living to keep beautiful creatures like me living in style!!

Thanks for sharing my big day! Can you imagine how much more gorgeous I'll be when I turn 2? Bark if you want to see me again!

Bye for now!!  Oh and do try to stay cool!!

This Is Where It Really Is Christmas in July!

Come with me to a magical place where it's
cold and it really is Christmas in July!

This is The Carrington in the Blue Mountains of Katoomba, New South Wales, AU.

Come in!  Let's head to the lobby.

And sign in.

After we put our bags away how about a stroll through the village?

And do a little shopping...

On the drive back we'll stop at Govetts Leap Lookout to see the panoramic view of Grose Valley.

How pretty The Carrington looks in the evening.

Time to get ready for dinner!

Meet you in the dining room!

Where shall we sit?

After a long feast how about a little quilting in the living room by the fire?

Now it's late and the lights have dimmed.  We'll relax on the sofa with an after dinner drink before we turn in.

I's been a long day and I'm cold and tired.  Hope you enjoyed your visit!

We sure did!!

Bye for now!

Ralph & Justin Froggy Friends

A Friendly Froggy Story!

Ralph used to be lonely.

Then he met Justin at one of the ponds on the Farmington Canal.

Now they hang out together whenever they want.

They eat whatever they feel like whenever they feel like it.
  Black spiders are Justin's favorite!

And when they are nice and full they find a place- any place to take a long nap.

Whenever they wake up they do whatever they want whenever they want.
They don't know about days so everyday is freedom for them!

Bye for now!

Going out to look for more adventures!

See you soon!!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July!

We May All Have Our Differences

I don't look forward to birthdays now as much as I did when I was young but having a birthday on a day when almost everyone who isn't working is celebrating makes it a little more tolerable!

My  Birthday Drink!

A few years ago we stumbled upon a very small French bistro in the West End of New York City.  It's called Jules Bistro.  The first time we were there was a hot humid summer night.  We make late dinner reservations so we can explore the city more each time we visit and leisurely stop for a drink if we see a place we think we might like.  We sat at the bar at Jules while the Jazz band was setting up.  The manager was friendly and in a thick French accent told us we had to try their special summer drink.  That drink ranked up there with Kir Royales in Paris, Pimm's in London, Mai Tai's in Hawaii, Campari and soda with a hint of orange in Florence, etc. etc.

Cold Cold Champagne

In a mortar and pestle crush fresh mint and fresh ginger.  Add mixture to cold champagne and ENJOY~~

PROMISE YOU WILL NOT DRINK JUST ONE!
